IdEEA Awards

Environmental Educators of the Year

Each year three outstanding Idaho educators are recognized for their excellence at the annual Idaho Environmental Education Conference. Award categories include Elementary, Secondary and Non-Formal Environmental Educators of the Year.  Nominated by their peers, EE award winners receive a handsome plaque honoring their achievements plus a $100 scholarship certificate, sponsored by the Idaho Conservation League, covering registration fees for the following year’s Idaho EE Conference.

IdEEA Award

NAAEEIdEEA was awarded the Outstanding Affiliate Award at the North American Association for Environmental Education (NAAEE) Annual Awards Luncheon on Friday, October 13, 2006 in St. Paul Minnesota. The nomination was made by Donny Roush, past Executive Director of IdEEA.

In five years, IdEEA, an independent nonprofit organization created a demonstration network of model EE schools. Not only did they train, support and evaluate 12 Idaho schools in The EIC Model, they also exported their network to Montana and Wyoming. IdEEA is the only Affiliate bringing EIC to its teachers and students without financial support from its state department of education.

They also established the Idaho On-line Clearinghouse of EE Resources and then tied this system to the Guidelines for Excellence through resource reviews.  IdEEA also expanded their membership to 451 (as of June 1, 2006) and invested more than $450,000 into the capacity of our state's  comprehensive environmental education system. Using the NEEAP "wheel", they've gone from one component to 18 in less than a decade.
